Few Tickets Remain For Teddy Bear Toss

Dec 01, 2011 - 02:27 PST

Fewer than 300 tickets remain for Saturday’s Winterhawks game, when they take on the Seattle Thunderbirds at 7 p.m. in the Rose Garden in the annual Teddy Bear Toss game.

Fans planning on buying tickets should do so quickly, as the game is expected to sell out in advance of Saturday. Tickets are available online at winterhawks.com, the Rose Quarter box office and the Winterhawks’ ticket office inside Veterans Memorial Coliseum.

At the Teddy Bear Toss, fans bring teddy bears and other stuffed animals to the game, and when the Hawks score their first goal, fans throw their animals onto the ice. The bears are then delivered by Winterhawks players to children in local hospitals, and also donated to local charities.

This year’s Teddy Bear Toss will also include a new wrinkle: a local couple is getting married on the ice after the teddy bear goal.

As soon as the last bears are thrown after the goal, the wedding party will make their way onto the ice, and the ceremony will begin at center ice while Winterhawks players and staff pick up the bears around them.
