The Portland Winterhawks have signed 15-year-old defenseman Jordan Davies.
Davies had 10 goals and 17 assists for 27 points in 38 games with the Sherwood Park NIC Squires AAA team in the Alberta Minor Midget Hockey League, and was named the team’s top defenseman.
Davies, 6’0, 170 pounds, attended Portland’s training camp prior to this season as a free agent, and was added to the team’s protected list after camp.
"We were impressed with Jordan at our training camp and decided to add him to our protected list and monitor his progress,” said Portland Winterhawks General Manager & Head Coach Mike Johnston. “Throughout the season Jordan continued to impress our scouts and now we are confident he can be a solid WHL player."
The Winterhawks take on the Edmonton Oil Kings in the WHL Final beginning Thursday in Edmonton. The series returns to Portland with Game 3 Sunday and Game 4 next Tuesday, both at the Rose Garden. Tickets can be purchased online at winterhawks.com or in person at the Rose Quarter box office or the Winterhawks’ ticket office inside Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
