Portland Winterhawks General Manager & Head Coach Mike Johnston has announced that Teresa Forni has accepted a position with the Winterhawks as billet liaison, and Sue Johnson has been named education adviser.
Forni and Johnson have both been affiliated with the Winterhawks for many years, Forni and her husband Rodney as billets and Johnson as an education consultant while she was with Milwaukie High School.
As the billet liaison, Forni will be responsible for overseeing the billet program. Billets are host families whom Winterhawks players live with during the season. In her position Forni will recruit new billet families for the organization and serve as a liaison between the team and the billets.
Johnson worked with Winterhawks players for over 20 years while serving as a guidance counselor at Milwaukie High School, where many of the team’s high school-aged players take classes. She retired from the school earlier this year, and will now take a larger role in helping Winterhawks players achieve their educational goals.
“Billets and education are two of the most important aspects of running a junior hockey team, and bringing Teresa and Sue to the team in official capacities will be great additions for the organization” said Johnston. “They have helped countless players grow and mature over the years, and we’re thrilled to expand their roles with the team.”
